24 / 7 with Kiefer Sutherland... Jack is back!

Jack is (almost) back!

Careful! As usual, trailers are total spoilers! Personally, I did NOT watch it after the intro by the actor himself and I would avice not too either. If it is the last season of 24, I hope it will be a great one! The concept has been so strong, the rythm of the early seasons has been so fast, the tricks, at first, were almost so good, I would let myself think the Fox channel and the 24 team can make a fantastic job. It is an incredible challenge... the pressure they have on their shoulders is a sign they want to cope with it and to deliver a quality beyond expectation. The clock is ticking... The fans will be there.

Californication rocks!

One of the best TV Series I have ever seen... Love at first sight! ;) The serie (offered by Showtime) begins with the Rolling Stones' "You can't always get what you want" and a fun provocative presentation of the main - and coolest - character : Hank Moody.

Natascha McElhone and David Duchovny in Californication - icon from the website www.natascha-mcelhone.netOnce-a-writer-Moody, played by an outstanding and surprizing David Duchovny, who is Executive Producer as well, could seem to be a NewYork alcohol-addict womanizer lost in L.A., still in love with his ex (charming Natascha McEhlone once again)... He is sooo much more! In the same way, the episodes are crazy, lovely, fun, gross, deep, clever, sexy, sad, generous, strong... human in a nutshell, simple and complicated, so rich. And the soundtrack, icing on the cake, is well chosen too. :)

Assassins' Creed is a soon-coming BlockBuster

A SplinterCell-like, if you want a quick simple comparison, but a free, open, non-linear development in a medieval context. It should be available in November, I am so looking forward to lay my hand on it... ;) Edit: Latest news are the game is still planned to be issued in November for the XBox 360 players, but the PC version of Asssasin's Creed would appear sometimes in 2008... Geeez...

Beautiful video, gread soundtrack! Isn't it Placebo? I don't have any confirmation, do you know who sings?
Edit: Okay, that is actually a cool band called UNKLE, with Richard Ashcroft's voice and the song is Lonely Soul... :) the original version is 12-minute-long.

TV Series...

South of Nowhere... The song "Wasted" by LP comes from this TV serie. I swallowed the whole two first seasons last month! This is kind of a teenagers story with a lesbian touch, with some fast illogical, unreal twists but the characters are friendly, cute and funny. The third season beagan on a less positive trend though, I am not sure I will follow...

Maybe because meanwhile I discovered some good, better series, even some precious works! The Company (mini-series) was entertaining but not as deep and thrilling as I expected. Anyway, you will find a taste from good old cold war plots, nice pictures and an impressive cast (surprising Michael Keaton, sensitive Chris O’Donnell, very cute Alexandra Maria Lara and the charming Natascha McElhone).

Weeds came back with the second season in a pretty good rythm already, Ugly Betty (Betty Suarez) is a really good surprise, a bit heavy or tasteless sometimes, but the great lively, fancy cast, some hilarious moments and situations make forget the rest!

Nevertheless, all these - even added up - are *nothing* compared to the three jewels proudly brought to us by HBO, FX and Showtime channels... Do you see what I am talking about?

BURN NOTICE - Are you ready to get burned...?

"Are you ready to get burned?" The question is teasing, you can't help being attracted, you want to know more! Here is the pitch: "When spies get fired, they don't get a letter from human resources...

While on assignment, agent Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) gets a 'Burn Notice' and becomes untouchable. Having no idea what or who triggered his demise, Michael returns to his hometown, Miami, determined to find out the reason for his sudden termination. Unable to utilize his normal contacts and needing to stay under the spy network radar, he puts his Special Ops training to use to help those who the police can't or won't, in order to fund his ongoing personal investigation..."

The concept is good, the idea is pleasant! Unfortunately, the first impressions are not. The serie is way "too nice", kind of cheap actually, the quality of the image is surprisingly average, and the actors, even if they are friendly, are not credible characters yet... It reminds me of Acapulco H.E.A.T. with the bikini babes clichés, it brings back some good old memories though, with MacGyver's style-handmade-spy tools. Nevertheless, globally, after three episodes, the results are as more disappointing that I had high expectations.

One main mission (well, a good deed) per episode, some extra action and of course the intrigue, the Ariadne's clew, which is supposed to keep the audience waiting for the next Thursday... well, I am not the target this time. I keep on thinking about Grand Theft Auto - Vice City (mythic 2002 video game!) but without the punchy mordant tone, the cinema references nor the interactivity! Dommage...

Let's hope they improve it.

Beginning this blog with a rebirth

As some of you may already know, the TV show "Jericho" is back on air after being canceled by CBS program planners and incredibly saved by creative and everfighting fans, with banners, online petitions and... nuts. Read more about this story here (TV.com), here (JerichoLives) and there (NutsOnline). :) I am so glad this serie has a chance to survive. The plot is one the most intriguing I had the luck to see. At least 7 new episodes are programmed and then... It seems that CBS executives asked the fans to do "their part of the deal" by getting other people to watch the TV show so that the audience would meet CBS audience goals... Ironic, cynical even, but so pragmatical.

Those outside of the USA will not be able to watch the episodes on CBS.com but you already can order the DVDs of the first season on the net.

Skeet Ulrich (imdb) is the main character of this drama-fiction, and the geeks will recognize him right away, as he played Kevin Mitnick in 'Hackers 2: Takedown' (2000), and others might remember him from 'Scream' (1996) ;)

Below you will find some videos from fans I posted, but you can find a lot more directly on YouTube, I guess Dailymotion will catch up as soon as Jericho starts in Europe.

The answer from CBS...

...and finally a goofy video from the actors of the serie to thank their fans :)
